Art exists across many media, from the very static to the super dynamic. Moving-picture media is a great subject matter, and it is the inspiration for this graphic illustration.
This design began on tracing paper with a sharpie marker as fast and furious lines over a pencil drawing. Knowing that this would be a shirt graphic and wanting to mix up the styles on the collection, I was happy with the drawing but wanted to move a different direction. In searching through images of movie-making and projecting systems, old-school projector technology caught my eye as a relic of times past. About My FeonixesTo clarify now, these are my little critters (some of these examples are owned by other people)

In the past I've sold 'adoptables' of these guys. I created designs and color patterns ect and sold them. I've also done custom Feonixes where people have some freedom on what they want their design to look like.
Now I'm getting tired of adoptables since I'm selling a lot of designs I would have otherwise used in some fashion. But I'm also kinda tired of quietly defending my ideas. The whole feather thing went wild recently and I no longer feel like I can hold the idea too strongly anymore. The craze has even got me confused with thinking someone drew a Feonix and it was their own 'species.' I will still try to come up with unique ways to incorporate them onto my manxed critters in any case.

There will always be people who are, on some levels, whether technical or aesthetic or sheer artistic talent, may be considered "better" than you are. Maybe they've had more time to practice. Maybe they have the money for expensive supplies. Or maybe they're one of those people who can seemingly just glance at their medium and make gold. Or maybe it's some combination thereof.
First of all, practice makes better, if not perfect. Over time you may be able to see your work getting better; your best bet is to compare yourself to yourself, not other artists. I can look back through my archives here and in various hard drives and see where I've improved over the years, and no doubt I'll continue getting better. While I consider myself a professional in some media, it doesn't mean that I don't have plenty of room for growth and improvement--I'd hate to think there was nothing more to do after any point other than death!

Creepy Comments...This is a matter that I've held my tongue about for years.  Mostly because I didn't get many comments like this, and when I did I'd simply ignore and hide the comments, but there seems to be a massive influx of people leaving comments like this over the last few weeks, so I feel the need to come out and say something...
I don't know what it is with people on the internet feeling the need to broadcast their fetishes and sexual desires to publicly to EVERYONE.  Ohhhhh boy... some of the comments I've seen on other people's art on FurAffinity.
Believe it or not, not every artist who draws anthros does it for others to fap to.  I'm definitely among the few who do not so when I get comments saying how much you want to "fuck" a character (or anything of the like), all it tells me is that you're a total creeper. I Will Not Sell Out

I will not draw pokemon just because I want to milk favorites.

I will not upload every fucking thing I do just because I want to milk pageviews.

I will not change my DeviantART name just to prove my worth to myself.

I will not leave DeviantART just to get watchers on another blog or site, and then come back claiming DA is forgiven.

If I ever leave, I will not do it because I'm ashamed of the DeviantART community, not including those who actually love art. I will do it because I want or need to leave.

I will not categorize my art into a separate category just to get on the front page.

I won't take trades just to make other people happy.

I will not open up commissions just so people can pay me way less than what my art is worth.

I will draw what I want, upload what I want, comment on what I want, and stay on DeviantART as long as I want. Because it is what I want to do, NOT what the community wants me to do.

"I will not draw pokemon just because I want to milk favorites."

'I will not draw [latest popular thing] just because I want more favorites and page views when I don't even like [latest popular thing]'. In other words, drawing something just to please others rather than to please yourself... am I correct? Though if an artist just so happens to really like... say... Pokemon and draws it often then it really should be their business. Not everyone that draws fan art is 'milking favorites'... some people just like to ejaculate what they love and if they just so happen to cream Pikachu... well... heh.

Arg, damn. Now I have horrible images in my head.

Well here's the thing, and there's another comment on this journal wondering nearly the same type of deal.

Please note, that I definitely said "...JUST BECAUSE..." which entails there being a single reason for uploading and drawing the picture.

I never said I wouldn't draw pokemon period. As a matter of fact, I have about 4-5 images of Pokemon in my gallery. And I've probably favorited a good amount too.
